Tsetan Sonam Carpets opened in Milan in 2000; it is the Italian portal of Samling Carpet Ind., among the world leaders in the production of hand-knotted carpet.
Tsetan Sonam Carpets offers to artists, architects and designers, the century’s old Tibetan technique of hand-weaving updated with eco sustainable technologies and the research of new materials (cachemire, banana silk, aloe, hemp, linen, cactus……) to produce carpets, blankets and textiles on their own design, shape and colours.
Precious unique masterpieces of design suitable for every sector: public and private, contract, yachting, leisure, life style.
A carpet is not only a decorative element for floors, but it  also outlines the space  bringing warmth and comfort. A carpet on the floor like a picture on the wall defines the environment’s taste and status.
Our carpets are hand-knotted  by Samling Carpets Ind, a pioneer in introducing Tibetan carpets in the western niche market, well known for its quality, variety and world access.
Founded in 1974 in Boudha, a holy area of Kathmandu, it started in a small workshop with 20 orphans and homeless. With giant strides, it has now become the leading carpet manufacturer and exporter from Nepal. Today it offers a wide collection of refined textures, styles and designs by assimilating the highly experienced craftsmanship of the east with the western expertise

Tibetan carpets are known for their exotic simplicity. However they are the fruit of a labyrinth of processes like wool sorting, carding, spinning, dyeing, rolling into balls, weaving, washing, drying, trimming, bordering, manicuring and finishing.

An average of 600 working hours per m².

Each carpet is exclusively woven with the finest hand-spun and hand-carded wool sheared from the rare breed of the Himalayan sheep raised in the high altitudes of Tibet. This kind of wool is rich in lanolin which makes the wool virtually crushproof and soft, naturally resistant to most forms of soiling and staining. Tibetan wool gives the carpet a good handle, strong body with rich texture and a vibrant chromatic response.

Traditionally, Tibetan carpets are woven on free standing looms on which dyed yarns are threaded through a cotton warp around a horizontal rod. The yarns are woven in a web of loops and knots into intricate designs.

Purchasing one of our carpets not only enhances the prestige of the environment, but it also helps to support the education of all the children at the factory’s school and to provide medical care to the population.
